The exhibition XXIV is an exhibition of Julien Deniau aka UNAVISTA where he presents his works of recent years, with two series of sculptures made with recycled skateboards.
With the current theme of nature and climate change, the first series represents animals in the process of disappearance.
The second one shows some sport legends placed in other people’s scenes, which leads us to think about subjects such as the seas, water, garbage, wars…
The exhibition will be at the gallery Artevistas Born from 24/10 to 24/11.
Opening on 24/10 from 19h to 21h30. DJ Mendosam will play music…
French photographer, skater and painter, based between Paris and Barcelona since 2000, Julien has worked as a freelance photographer and videographer for French television and international magazines for over 20 years, which has given him the opportunity to travel in many countries and document his travels.
In 2005, he became interested in the world of art and drawing, which gives him an opportunity to express himself through other media.
Where he shows what cannot be shown with the camera, but can be recreated by his imagination.
He likes wood as a support material and tries to give a new life to used skateboards by giving them new unusual shapes.
Recycling is a very important element in his work, which is why he technically uses only this material.
He found it interesting to use boards that have lived on the streets to be skateboarded, and whose life span is finite, to work with them as a way to give them a second life as works of art.
Julien found his inspirations in street art and folk art that he has encountered during his travels in Bolivia, Mexico, Indonesia and Africa.
He uses different techniques, using both acrylic and oil paint, trying to give his sculptures stylized forms with folkloric patterns and 3 dimensional effects.
Julien’s work is always evolving, trying new techniques and perspectives.
