Con su lanzamiento en los 90, las Air Max 95 consiguieron capturar la esencia de su tiempo a través de sus líneas de apariencia esquelética, sus característicos materiales sintéticos y sus llamativos acentos en neon green. El equipo de Nike SB decidió aceptar el desafío de adaptar este icono del running para el skateboard conservando su mítico look, y lograron cumplir el sueño de décadas de skaters.
Las Nike SB Air Max 95 se alejan de los materiales sintéticos de las originales para utilizar suede y piel, los materiales preferidos por los skaters. También se han modificado las capas de refuerzo requeridas para el running, por lo que las Nike SB Air Max 95 cuentan con una construcción más ligera y con materiales flexibles que permiten sentir el contacto con la tabla y cubren las necesidades del skateboard. Aunque las originales son famosas por su altura, las Nike SB Air Max 95 tienen una suela interior nueva que acerca el pie a la tabla. Además se han añadido tacos en espiga a la suela exterior para mejorar el agarre. Están rematadas con los elementos de marca de Nike SB en el talón, la lengüeta y el estabilizador de TPU. Las Nike SB Air Max 95 debutan con una combinación tonal de summit white y toques vivos de cactus flower y una suela exterior de goma antideslizante.
